I think I like the battle system better too. A lot of the NPCs are cool too, and well-acted - in fact, it's close to the best English VA I've heard in any game, at least any non-western one. Sagi is likable, but it's Milly and Guillo that really steal the show. It's amazing how much they improved over BK1's problems. I'm playing through Origins right now and loving it. I like the game, but I can understand why some wouldn't. BK1 has a cool battle system and amazing music, but the story is lethargic besides a couple of high points and the VA is just terrible. That said, if you really can't stand the original, you should play Origins anyway, because it's that much better. The only thing I really disliked about BK:O is the few final moments to the ending credits, but otherwise, it was a very enjoyable, if not a bit slow paced, ride from the start to finish.īaten Kaitos Origins' story will mean more if you play the original first. Battle animations in BK:O are also much improved from BK, being better animated and choreographed. The battles is kinda too fast though, but being the deck building whore that I am, it didn't bother me much. BK:O made deckbuilding much more better by giving you tons more cards to work therefore opening much more deck options. BK:O localization is also really really good and I haven't laughed as much from dialogue in a rpg for a long while.Īs for the battle system, BK battles were always too long, slow, and mostly easy for me, with the deckbuilding part being not much important once you get the pattern down due to the fact that you always had fewer cards than your deck would require, making your decks mostly unchangeable anyway. I have to say when playing BK, I wanted it to just end and get it over with, but playing BK:O, I was sad to see it end and wanted more.Įverything is so much better in BK:O, but then it could be because of playing BK first had my standards lowered and the story connections of BK:O really shine only when you have played BK first.
